Isn’t this little pattern woven silk cute?

With fragments currently residing in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum in London, these little pieces originally come from the Silk Road hub of Dunhuang, western China. Buried underneath the sands, the original (which is remarkably well preserved) dates to the 8th – 9th Centuries AD. With little red hearts on a light yellow background, this fabric would look just as good on 21st Century fashion as it did in the 8th.

For history enthusiasts, this is perhaps one of the most versatile patterns around. With examples from Sasanian Iran, Kushan Bactria and northern India, Sogdiana, and Khwarazm, it changed little over the centuries and can be used across a millenium, if not more.

The replica is pure silk, measuring 2 metres wide, and has a wonderful soft drape that only pure silk can achieve.

Select the length (in half metres) you would like – ordering in half metres, the fabric is 2 metres across (ordering 1 unit will get you a piece measuring 50 cm x 200 cm).
